Blenio Valley, Ticino

The thermal sources of Acquarossa in the Italian part
of Switzerland have been known since the ancient
times. Regular spa activities started in 1786. During
the second part of the last century, these magnificent
buildings became run-down, and commercial usage
stopped in 1971.
In an effort to revitalize tourism, Blenio Turismo, the
local tourism authority, embarked on a project to bring
the thermal sources up-to-date whilst preserving their
history. Resourceful Living produced a feasibility study,
which was approved by regional and cantonal authorities
in October 2008. The transformed thermal sources
will provide a spa, a medical center as well as 120
